Baby sweater with cross front and edged in bold colour.

Rain City Baby

$9 CAD

Flashes of colour pop in this cross-over style baby cardigan. With contrast-coloured garter stitch seams that are knitted-in rather than sewn, this sweater will be great fun to make and even more fun to wear.

Knit them for all the kids, big and small; larger sizes are available in the Rain City Kid v-neck cardign pattern.

The back and front pieces are worked bottom up with short rows for the shoulder shaping. There is no sewing in this project. The shoulders are joined with a three needle bind off. Sleeves are picked up around the armhole and worked top down.

The fronts, two backs and sleeve seams are joined by picking up stitches along the end, working a garter stitch band of colour and joined to the next piece with a hybrid pick up and knit and three-needle bind-off. Finally a front band it picked up along the sweater front edges and around the back neck and worked in garter stitch.

Wool, wool blends and cottons would all substitute nicely. Knit Picks Swish DK would be a great choice based on easy care and a great colour selection.
