V-neck child's cardigan with pockets and colourful bands of garter stitch at seams and edging.

Rain City Kid

$12 CAD

Your child might want to eat and sleep in this bright sweater. The seams are knitted-in using colourful garter stitch bands and the pocket linings flash the same colour as the seams for lots of visual impact.

There are no hand sewn seams in this project. It’s all knitting, all the time!

Knit them for all the kids, big and small; smaller sizes are available in the Rain City Baby cross-over style pattern.

Construction

The back and front pieces are worked bottom up with short rows for the shoulder shaping. There is no sewing in this project. The shoulders are joined with a three needle bind off. Sleeves are picked up around the armhole, the sleeve cap is shaped with short rows, and the sleeve is worked top down.

The joining bands are a kind of hybrid pick up and knit combined with three-needle bind-off. The pockets are worked as a pre-planned afterthought pocket. Finally a front band it picked up along the sweater front edges and around the back neck and worked in garter stitch.
