One of the pieces in the exhibit, Low-Tech Factory offers a new interpretation on the rocking chair and on knitting. The chair is all about productive relaxation—the movement of the chair operates a simple circular knitting machine that produces a toque.

Project Bags
The ladies in my mother’s knitting group have discovered these fabulous zippered bags at Dollarama. They’re perfect for knitting projects on the go. The bags are such a favourite that when one of the husbands was in small town Alberta on a business trip and spied a Dollarama, he stopped in and bought more bags.
Friday Finds – More Mario Links
I spent so much time online researching Super Mario for Hana’s birthday and Hallowe’en. I found many more ideas than I could use but it’s a shame to let them go to waste. Do you have a video game nut in your family?
Friday Finds – Alyssa Ettinger
Christmas is coming and I know what I would like to receive! I’ve been coveting this lovely porcelain “knitware” for quite some time.
Alyssa Ettinger has translated the essence of handknit stitches into functional vases, coasters and tumblers.
Sunday Find – Shelter
Wholesome is the word I would use to describe a new yarn called Shelter.
Jared Flood of Brooklyn Tweed fame developed Shelter out of a desire for locally produced American yarn for American knitters.
Friday Finds – Sheep’s Clothing

Hmm, pink knee-highs–it’s a good look on him. Can your man rock that look?
Friday Finds – Upcycled Knitting Needles
Remember those vintage plastic knitting needles? I have a few in my stash that were my Mum’s and might have even been my Grandma’s. Australian artist Liana Kabel breathes new life into them along with other bits of plastic and tupperware.
Friday Finds – Petite Purls
I recently found out about a great online knitting magazine called Petite Purls. It focuses solely on knits for babies and children. How could I not have been aware of it?
Friday Finds – Decals for Knitters
Wouldn’t you love to write your passion for knitting in big bold letters on the wall?
Lewa’s Designs offers removable vinyl decals that will adhere to all sorts of surfaces including walls, mirrors, windows and laptops.
Friday Finds – Jewellery for Knitters
I worked for a number of years as a jeweller and jewellery instructor after graduating from art college. While I love knitting, at times I do miss working with metal. I can sometimes fill that need by looking at what other jewellers are making.
