Friday Finds – Alyssa Ettinger
Christmas is coming and I know what I would like to receive! I’ve been coveting this lovely porcelain “knitware” for quite some time.
Alyssa Ettinger has translated the essence of handknit stitches into functional vases, coasters and tumblers.
I love how Alyssa plays with the contrasts of hard porcelain and soft knitted fabric to great effect.
The fine, cable-textured tumblers and demitasse cups are my favourite pieces. It’s like a sweater sleeve is wrapped around them to keep the contents cozy and warm.
Alyssa creates her slip-cast Knitware line in her studio in Brooklyn. If you’re lucky enough to live in the area you can take classes with her or meet her at local markets where she sells her work in person. For the rest of us, we can buy her pieces online directly from her website or Etsy shop.
Will you be adding a piece of Knitware to your wish list?
