Project Bags

The ladies in my mother’s knitting group have discovered these fabulous zippered bags at Dollarama. They’re perfect for knitting projects on the go. The bags are such a favourite that when one of the husbands was in small town Alberta on a business trip and spied a Dollarama, he stopped in and bought more bags. He brought home a dozen bags!

Not to be outdone, when I made my foray to Dollarama here in Vancouver, I picked up a dozen for myself as well. These three bags have my latest projects for publication in an upcoming SoHo Publications book.

The bags can be found in the stationary/office supplies section, not the cosmetics bag section as I had originally assumed. They’re called “zippered folders” and they’ll hold a full-sized pattern plus yarn for a small project.

  1. I just might be the same publication. I need to get it packaged up and shipped out by tomorrow so I’m working on the last minute finishing details today.

  2. Holli, I swear that Geordie and I picked up two bags almost exactly like these in Evora, Portugal yesterday. They were one euro fifty. We got them to hold our medical and bath stuff – toothbrush and other things. The ones we got have a base so that they sit up when they
have something in them. Now I’m going to have to look for more of them for my knitting projects. Mine is black edged with rainbow stripes, while your father’s is blue with the same stripes. We bought them in a “chino” a grab bag type store which is almost always run by Chinese families.

  3. I also saw smaller cosmetics bags that sound like what you found at Dollarama. I thought they might be a bit small for most of my knitting projects although they would work for socks if you have a small pattern or are willing to fold the pattern.
