On Thursday (when I wasn’t at home) Fedex tried to deliver the yarn for the book projects I’ve been working on. I arranged to pick up the package on Friday to avoid another missed delivery.
Woohoo! THREE of my designs were selected for an upcoming book by a well known publisher. There is very little I can tell you about the projects right now except that I’m eagerly awaiting the yarn.
I’ve been busy as a beaver but there’s nothing I can show for it. I haven’t been submitting to publications very much to date because my schedule didn’t allow me to commit to short deadlines.
Hana has new socks in yellows and golds—her favourite colours.
I test knit Shozo, a pattern written by Nigel, my step-father. It’s toe up with a great method for working the gusset, heel turn and even the heel “flap” looks like a conventional top-down sock.

After much swatching last week, I came up with a solution for the sleeve cuffs on the triangle sweater that makes me happy. I modified another design embellishment borrowed from Andean Folk Knitting.
New Moon Studio: Porcelain Pomegranate
I’ve been partial to pomegranates ever since I was a child visiting Dominica in the Carribean with my family. I loved picking the little seeds out and eating them one by one.

Every designer has her/his own way of approaching a new project. I like to figure out all the numbers and sizes before I settle down to knit my first sample. I even write up the instructions.
I’m just loving working with Sandnes Mini Palett (colourway 0964). It’s one of the yarns I picked up to swatch for my next series of designs. The colours flow through the ball in slow colour shifts and it’s mesmerizing.
How many designs are safe to juggle at the same time? I’m working on three sweaters I designed some time ago for Skacel (those pictures are of my original samples).
