Substitution Notes
Choose a worsted weight yarn. Original was a superwash wool that works up at 4.5 to 5 sts per inch (2.5 cm) on 4.5 to 5 mm (US 7-8) needles. Wools and wool blends will substitute well. For plant fibres and acrylics, knit a large swatch, block it and hang your swatch to assess.
Gauge
18 sts and 25 rows = 4″ (10 cm) over stockinette stitch using larger needle.
Needles + Notions
4 & 4.5 mm (US 6 & 7) Circular Needles, 24″ (60 cm) long;
Stitch Markers.
