Look at those beautiful spirals of curling knitted fabric soaking in the sink – they look like a bouquet of posies. My secret One Planet Yarns project is drawing to a close.
design process
K1, reknit 2
I’ve been working away on my secret project for One Planet. There has been a lot of knitting and reknitting going on around here. The yarn is very different from what I’ve been designing with lately so there’s a learning curve attached.
Mail on Sunday?
Yesterday Canada Post arrived with a parcel of yarn from One Planet Yarn and Fiber. I’m working on a secret project for them and it’s great to get the yarn in my hands so I can finalise the details.
They’re here!
Just in time to whip a quick Christmas present or two off your needles …

I love these gloves!
Some LYSs in Calgary
As I mentioned before, my friend Marje took the morning off of work to drive me to a couple of yarn shops in Calgary. It sure beat taking the bus around town!
On Thursday morning we visited Knit One Chat Too which has renovated since the last time I was there.
I made it!
I finally received my invitation to join Ravelry and I’m part of the community now! The wait wasn’t nearly as long as I thought it was going to be (just over a month).
Tangled mess of ends
Last night I sewed in a lot of ends. Fingers and thumbs for two pairs of gloves, plus colour changes makes 56 ends. Yikes! The sample gloves are for my new pattern and now I just have to wait for a non-rainy day to take the photographs.
Yardage
For every pattern I design I need to figure out how much yarn is required to make it. Usually what that boils down to is knitting a swatch and then ripping it out so I can measure it.
Fall Cleaning
I’m way overdue for a cleaning / sorting / assessing of all my ongoing knitting and design projects. I spent a few hours going through the baskets and bags that surround me where I sit to do most of my knitting and this is what I’ve come up with for UFOs.
Black Yarn
My eyes are going. I’ve been in denial about this for a while now. I couldn’t really understand before when my mum would said that she could only knit with dark coloured yarn during the day with good strong light over her shoulder.
