I went into Hana’s class one afternoon in the last week of school to show the kids how to felt wool. We had fun making little felted balls. I was really pleased with how interested and eager they were.

I was so busy assembling kits, dealing with last minute details (like buying a second-hand tent) and knitting furiously before the Victoria Knit-Out that I didn’t have a chance to share with you the final specs on some of the samples I finished (and didn’t finish ;-)) for the weekend.
Victoria Fibre Goodness
Last weekend I attended the Victoria Fibre Festival and Knit-Out. Nigel and I took the ferry to Victoria and had a lovely weekend of knitting and fibre-related events.

Saturday was World Wide Knit in Public day. Hana (with her knitting spool), Nigel and I ventured out to the grassy area adjacent to Kits beach to participate. I was surprised at how few knitters I knew at the event.
Buzzz
The little kidlets in Hana’s class are really enjoying the spool knitting. They have been eager to have a knitting bee of their own to take home, so I took orders.

Now that Pretty as a Posy is released, I can tell you a little about it.
I wanted to design an easy knit with minimal shaping. Instead of decreasing for the armholes I decided that ribbing would also pull the fabric in making a narrower bodice and allowing the skirt to poof out.

I just heard from One Planet Yarn and Fiber. My new secret pattern is soon to be released. They are waiting on a new shipment of Lanas Puras Clarissa to be spun and dyed in South America.
Busy Busy Bees
We started off with 13 knitting spools for Hana’s class and yesterday I had to go back to the store for more. The project is a hit with the kids.
Today when I arrived in the classroom to knit with them, they all shouted out my name and cheered.
No Straights for Me
I hadn’t really realised it, but I’ve been knitting with circular needles almost exclusively for a few years now. I love my Addi Turbos. That’s all fine and dandy until I can’t find the right sized circular needle in my stash.
