Construction

The gloves are worked from cuff to fingers, in the round. After working the thumb gusset, the thumb is knit, followed by the rest of the hand and finally, the fingers. Make a pair for your kids, your grandkids or yourself. Knit every finger a different colour if you want. Self-patterning or hand-painted yarns paired with a contrasting solid or semi-solid look great. How can you resist?

Sizes: Children’s 4-7 yrs (8+ yrs, Ladies’ S, M, L).
Finished circumference: 5 ½ (6 ½, 7, 7 ½, 8)” / 14 (16.5, 18, 19, 20.5) cm.
Hand length: 5 ¼ (6 ½, 7 ¼, 7 ½, 8)” / 13 (16, 18, 19, 20) cm.

Yarn

Fingering weight or sock yarn;
80 (100, 130, 145, 170) yds / 75 (95, 120, 135, 155) m solid colour;
65 (85, 85, 90, 105) yds / 60 (80, 80, 80, 95) m self-patterning.

Shown in discontinued sock yarns (75% wool, 25% nylon; 465 yd /425 m per 100 g).

Substitution Notes

Choose a fingering weight or sock yarn with some wool content for warmth. Choose a solid colour and a self-patterning or variegated colourway. Alternatively, the gloves may be worked in one colour.

Gauge

30 sts and 42 rows to 4” (10cm) over stocking stitch worked in the round.
