Honest

I have been knitting! When I realised that one of my vendors, Simply Socks Yarn Company was going to be at Sock Summit, I approached her about displaying some of my samples. Allison had not planned on bringing patterns to sell at Sock Summit, but she did have a proposal for me.

Allison launched her own line of yarn which she planned to debut at Sock Summit. She wanted to have a knitted Ruby sample to display. I happily agreed to knit her favourite design and she sent the yarn to me. It was a surprise to open the box because I didn’t know what to expect as far as colour was concerned. There were lovely coral and mocha hand-dyed skeins nestled in the box just waiting for me to squeeze them and get the project started.

I like to block the hood before I knit the attached i-cord. I finished it in time to take with me to Portland and deliver it to Allison while she was setting up in the Marketplace at Sock Summit.

The yarn was soft and felt good to work with. The dye did not come off on my hands. When I delivered it I was surprised to find out it was dyed in Canada. The fibre content is 80% wool and 20% nylon. There is a depth to the hand-dyed semi-solid colours which I really like. At first I was surprised that Allison send me two solid colours since my designs generally use a self-striping yarn and a solid. I received a really  favourable response from the people who saw it knit up. I think it’s a great way to use my patterns to create a toned-down sweater for a more conservative gift recipient.
