Garter Stitch Cap
It’s a guy thing! The most recent issue of Knit Simple magazine has a section on knitting for the men in your life and my Garter Stitch Cap design is the first one featured.
I love using stripes when designing with garter stitch. They’re just so stripey and textured and provide such a strong visual line.
It’s always a surprise to see what the yarn editor at the magazine sends me to work with. I was pleased that it was Koigu Kersti Merino Crepe because … those colours—a gradient of teal!
I had a hard time deciding which striping combination I liked the best for this hat. So, I appealed to my Instagram followers. The overwhelming favourite was number 1! (Hint: follow me on Instagram for sneak peeks on upcoming designs.)
I debated on whether to include the pompom in the design submission because, you know, it was for a guy. But who doesn’t love a pompom? And it can always be left off.
