I ran out of yarn and Heidi, by way of Ravelry came to the rescue. I’ve been knitting a Chicknits sweater for myself with some yarn I purchased at Dressew. I did calculate the yardage before purchasing the yarn, but I ran out anyway and Dressew has run out of the colour.

‘Salty Knits’ Strikes Again
Police hunt ‘The Midnight Knitter’ wool graffiti bandit
This link just appeared on my FaceBook wall. It was sent from an old art college acquaintance who now lives in New Zealand.
Knitting Warmth
What a fabulous commercial! This YouTube video shows the making of a natural gas commercial incorporating the magical warmth of knitting. It’s a must see.
It came to me by way of Knitknigel and hizKNITS.
3 Periods
We went to a Paralympics sledge hockey game on the weekend. What fun! Japan beat the Czech Republic 2 to 1.
I managed to knit about 4″ on the back of a baby sweater I’m making for a friend.

No Excuses
I’m trying to teach my daughter to not always have an excuse for when something goes wrong. I emphasize accepting responsibility for one’s own actions. I need to model that behavior. Sooo … it’s been a while, and I apologize for the silence.
Is it too late?
I’m mentally starting a Christmas gift knitting list in my head. I know, I know, there’s not much time left—10 days to be exact. We’ll see how much happens. I plan to do some heavy duty knitting in the next little bit.
Wrist Warmers Found
I was out walking today and found a pair of wrist warmers that someone dropped. Maybe they’re yours? Someone else nicely placed them in the crook of a tree so they’re easier to see.
They are knit in a bulky natural coloured yarn with a lovely cable down the back.
Koigu Ruby
There are alternatives to using self-patterning yarns in my designs. Handpainted yarns look wonderful. I just finished my latest Ruby and I’m loving it.

More Skulls
Hallowe’en is a big deal around here; especially because Hana’s birthday is just two days before. It gets busy with parties and baking and events that all need to be fit in. This year I think I baked two birthday cakes (for separate parties), a batch of birthday cupcakes to share with classmates, and more cupcakes for the annual charity bake sale at Rod’s office.

Skullaclava
I whipped up a special Hallowe’en balaclava for Hana to wear now that the weather’s cooler. I stumbled across the instructions for this on an unlikely site called Instructables. There are all sorts of great ideas on that site for the DIY kind of person.
