It was high time for a little R&R for our family. Disneyland, baby!
I tried to bring my knitting with me so I would have something to do while in the lineups.

It is the new year—the Chinese New Year—and we just celebrated with a delicious meal at a favourite restaurant with my in-laws last weekend. At the end of last year I was experiencing some frustrations sourcing the perfect yarn for some upcoming projects.

The 89th annual Polar Bear Swim was yesterday and it was our first time observing the 1550+ brave (or perhaps crazy?) souls who bared their skin to take a dip in the frigid 6 degree C (43 F) water at English Bay.
I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. I was particularly blessed this Christmas with family, friends and some wonderful gifts a knitter would love!
Look at what my husband gave me!

Audrey sent me pictures of the Jack that she completed for a friend’s granddaughter. Charlee is so adorable in this sweater! Thank you, Audrey, for sharing.
This pattern is only available as a kit.
Just because he loves me, my little fibre-conscious boy gave me a love note.
I received another lovely gift recently. Nigel knit a pair of socks for me in some lovely soft merino dyed by Sweet Georgia before she went on her hiatus.
It’s snowing this morning in Vancouver. I’m just going to hunker down in front of the fire with a good cup of coffee and work on some samples for my upcoming trip to Quadra Island.
I just received an email from Annie of Annie’s Mittens. I only know her mother and I have never met Annie but as I mentioned before, my knitting guild makes mittens for Annie’s kindergarten class in New York every year because these little kids don’t have much and it’s our way of helping out.
I was happily working on the Peacock sample for Three Bags Full over the holidays between games of Dance Dance Revolution (one of the new Christmas presents in our house … that is one fun video game!).
