I began with baby sweaters when my own baby was little. As she grew, my patterns grew up as well. I began grading the patterns for bigger kids and then departed from children altogether when I started submitting to other publications.
That fateful day when I decided to answer a call for submission was really the turning point. From my time at art college I knew to propose several ideas and lucky me, one of them was accepted! I’ve been steadily submitting design ideas ever since to several publications.
Some months were crazy with short deadlines and up to five designs accepted for a single publication. With help from a supportive family I’ve been able to meet my deadlines and feel that I have a reputation as a reliable designer who can deliver a pattern that works and doesn’t require major reworks during the tech editing stage.
Of course, it was so fulfilling working on the collection of designs for my book Tempest. That’s been my greatest accomplishment to date.
In the next couple months several new patterns will be released.
