Friday Finds on Monday – Mario Amigurumi

It’s Mario Brothers central around here. Devan has decided to have a video game themed birthday party this year as well as dressing like Mario for Hallowe’en. At least it’s only one costume!

We started with D’s invitation which was really fun to make. We designed our own buttons and went to a local store called The Regional Assembly of Text to make them.

To get the look and feel of the button just right we used Mario Brothers fonts from the Mario Mayhem website. Devan drew the “M” and we photoshopped it all together.

Loot bags were the next order of business. I’ve been crocheting stars like crazy using this great pattern on the Shh, I’m counting! blog.

On the Toy-A-Day blog we found these great Mario and Luigi papercrafts. We included them in the loot bags so the kids can make a toy when they get home.

Devan’s costume looks great this year with very oversized thrift store overalls, some white gloves, a stick on mustache and a super easy to sew Mario hat by Groovy Kid Stuff. I couldn’t believe how easy this hat was to make and how great it looks.

I also bought a set of Mario and Friends crochet patterns by Michelle Rheaume Designs on Etsy. I made the Piranha Plant which Devan just loved when he unwrapped it. I ran out of time for the others but there’s always Christmas, right?

  1. Wow, looks like a great party! My six year old son is crazy for Mario too, and I’m going to have to crochet him some toys from the game. I have to know-did you get anymore made for Christmas? I’d love to see them!
