I would like to invite you ‘locals’ to join me for a couple of workshops presented by the West Coast Knitters’ Guild. There will be other instructors and workshops throughout the weekend of May 1 and 2. Contact Lynn at the WCKG for more information.
Are you Interested in Intarsia? Many of my sweater designs include little details of colour that are done using the intarsia technique. The colour blocks on the back of several of my sweaters and the numbers and dots on the birthday sweaters all incorporate intarsia.
In the workshop I’ll be teaching the basics, tricks for making your stitches look as even as possible and finishing techniques.
One of my favourite sweater designs is Jamie. What I love so much about it is that there are no seams in the whole sweater and most of the rows (except for the sleeves) can be accomplished working flat on short double-pointed needles. It’s magical the way the strips are all knit modularly and joined to one another as they are worked. When you finish knitting the sweater there are just a few ends to sew in. As easy as that.
My Modular Magic workshop introduces the modular strip knitting technique on a cell-phone cozy project. Or if you prefer, you can knit a case for your ipod or digital camera.
The workshops will be in the Kitsilano neighbourhood of Vancouver.

And Jamie is soooooo addictive! It’s my favourite one of the Bee’s Knees patterns – I’ve done at least 5 or 6.
