We’re giving a couple of favourite early patterns a new lease on life. Both Tobie’s Mittens (originally called Self-Patterning Mittens) and Cuffs were published in the Accord Knitting Pattern-A-Day calendars a few years back.
Tobie’s Mittens offers six sizes of mittens from newborn to preteen. Such a small amount of yarn is needed for the mittens, you’ll have fun diving into your basket of remnants from earlier projects to knit coordinating mittens. The instructions include step-by-step photos illustrating how to pick up stitches for the afterthought thumb.
Cuffs is a sweet little top-down child’s sock knit on double-pointed needles. It has a decorative cuff knit in self-patterning yarn which folds over a ribbed ankle that hugs the leg for a cozy fit. Sizing is based on children’s shoe sizes from baby to size 13 (US/Canadian sizes).
These patterns make great Christmas gifts for the little ones in your life. Use the left overs from another one of our designs to knit matching socks or mittens!
