Beryl just send me pictures of her adorable granddaughter Ava modeling her new Peacock sweater.
Three days before Christmas last year Beryl emailed me asking for advice on seaming. The lacey stitch pattern of Peacock creates a scalloped edge and it’s very tempting to follow the bind off edge when sewing the shoulders together, resulting in bumpy shoulders. My instructions warn against this, but Beryl wasn’t sure how to proceed.
I sent her some quick photos and a few words of encouragement and she easily finished the sweater in time for Christmas day. Her technical question lead to this post about working with a curvy seam allowance.
Because of the pattern repeat in the lace design, the sizes jump from 12-18 months to 4 yrs. Beryl knit the larger size for maximum wearing time for lovely Ava. Thanks Beryl for sharing your photos; you did a beautiful job!
