This week has been all about teaching knitting and crochet classes to little kids. I’m offering three different classes for the noon-hour programs at Devan’s school. This marks the first of 8 weeks of lunchtime madness!
Before the classes even began, I had a production line going assembling all the supplies that each child received in class. I give the kids knitting/crochet bags complete with a journal for keeping track of their projects, design ideas, instructions and knitting needles/crochet hooks. Please Mum sells these great little reusable bags to raise money for their charities. I found a great deal on notebooks at Michael’s and the needles and hooks come from Dressew.
On Mondays I’m teaching crochet to a group of Grade 2 and 3 students. They all received little kits to make hacky sac balls/cubes. That’s a lot of yarn butterflies to wind ahead of time! I find things run so much more smoothly if I have all the yarn pre-measured ahead of time. It’s a bit of a free for all if they get to help themselves.
Tuesdays I’m teaching knitting to a full class of Grade 1 and 2 students and on Wednesdays I teach knitting to Grade 4 and 5 students. Whew!
