What could be finer than leaving Vancouver during yet another snowfall to go to sunny southern California and take a day to hang out on the beach and knit. I had to since I couldn’t knit at Disneyland!
While my boys (DH and DS) played in the surf I managed to knit a few rounds of a sock. I took very little in the way of knitting with me on this trip. Since I didn’t have anything pressing I looked at a few of my projects that are suffering from the second sock syndrome. This is the very start of a Mermaid sock as featured in Lucy Neatby’s Cool Socks, Warm Feet.
It was lovely to sit in the sand at Newport Beach and then take a walk down the pier.

I really like the colors in that sock, and I look forward to seeing how it turns out.
A warm beach sounds really nice right now. It snowed all day yesterday in the Seattle area, but we had just about 1″ (2.5 cm) accumulation where I live, and it’s very cold.
That’s a truly joyful picture of Devan… thanks for posting it.
