Annie's Mittens
Originally designed as a charity knit, I loved these cozy mittens
so much I had to share them with you! As a guild project, every
year we knit mittens for an inner-city kindergarten class in the
Bronx, NY. The teacher, Annie is the daughter of one of our members
and we always refer to the project as Annie's Mittens.
The yarn is held double for these mittens which makes them a quick
knit even though you're using a sock-weight yarn. Have some fun
and play with the pattern repeat in the self-patterning yarn. Try
to get the striping to match up or mix it up on purpose. Both look
great.
Size: Children's S, M, L
and Women's S, L
Techniques: ribbing, k2tog, knitting in
the round on double-pointed needles.
The yarns used in the photographed mittens are Opal
Petticoat (1295) with Opal Uni brown (1263) in Women's size S and
Opal Petticoat (1293) with Opal Uni dark blue (1269) in Children's
size M.

Guess Who?
Wild fingers, bright colours, long life - who wouldn't want to
wear these great gloves? They have a unique construction that creates
a very long life line as part of the thumb gusset. After working
the thumb gusset, knit the thumb then move on to the rest of the
hand and the fingers. Make a pair for your kids, your grandkids
or yourself. Knit every finger a different colour if you want. Self-patterning
or hand-painted yarns paired with a contrasting solid or semi-solid
look great. How can you resist?
