Cardigan with stranded colour work and the floats on the outside.

Weft

$12 CAD

Weft takes advantage of how lovely floats can look by exposing some of them on the right side of your knitting. The floats really become the star, mimicking a woven pattern in this button-up cardigan with stranded diamond motif. It’s clever, warm, and looks great.

Set-in sleeves and a stand up collar create a finished look, as well as the encased front edgings so the seam allowance is hidden when the collar is open.

Size Inclusive

Size inclusive to a 64 ½” / 164 cm finished chest measurement.

Construction

This jacket is worked in separate pieces from the lower edge to shoulders and sewn together. The fronts are worked in stranded colourwork, with the strands carried across the right side of the work. Fully fashioned shoulder shaping is worked on the back only, so the shoulder seams wrap over the shoulder. The waist is shaped and the jacket has set-in sleeves.

What's Included

This knitting pattern includes written directions, front and back images, colourwork chart, and a schematic with measurements.

The specified yarn is a rustic, woolly 2-ply yarn. Suitable replacements are lofty, traditional wools to aid with the stranded colourwork. A smoother, multi-plied wool or wool blend would also work, but steer clear of superwash wools.
