Construction

Worked bottom up, in pieces, the coat dress was designed to be an easy knit requiring minimal shaping. The ribbing pulls in the bodice to create the effect of a semi-shaped armhole.

Shown in Lana Puras Clarissa (discontinued) (50% wool, 50% cotton; 250 yd / 228 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g).

Substitution Notes

The original, discontinued yarn is 50/50 wool/cotton and knits up at 20-24 sts using a size 3.75 – 4.5mm / US 5 – 7 needle. 100% wool or wool blends and cottons would work well for this garment. Choose a fibre that’s easy to wash.

Gauge

21 sts and 33 rows to 4” (10cm) over stocking stitch using larger needles.
