Construction
The stitch pattern is based on a background of ribbing with increases and decreases creating the curved selvedges and single and double eyelets artfully thrown in.

Substitution Notes
The lacy stitch pattern is based on ribbing and wants to get long and skinny; choose a yarn that will hold its shape after blocking. In other words, wools like merino with a lot of elasticity and memory won’t work as well.
Gauge
Look for a yarn that works to 28 sts and 40 rows = 4” (10 cm) over stockinette stitch using 2.75 mm (US 2) needles for laceweight or 3.5 mm (US 4) needles for fingering weight. Refer to pattern Notes for advice on gauge.
