Lucy now has three Craftsy classes, so she can come to you in the comfort of your own home. I just finished watching her most recent Craftsy class—Fearless Knitting: Empowering Techniques for Every Knitter—and it’s as wonderful as I expected. Teeny Tiny DPNs

Teeny Tiny DPNs

Recently I treated myself to a set of Knitpicks 4″ double-pointed needles in 7 different sizes ranging from 2 mm to 3.5 mm. Short dpns are great to use when knitting tubes with a tiny circumference like fingers and thumbs. I’ve been putting my purchase to good use on a new glove design I’m getting ready to release. I usually don’t look forward to the fingers when I’m knitting gloves but with these needles it’s been a pleasure. Just look at how pretty my needles are—lovely, colourful stripes of laminated birch wood. The tips have a read more

What a weekend!

What a weekend!

Last weekend I traveled to Victoria and spent the whole time attending five Sally Melville workshops. It was such a great birthday present from my husband. I’m so pumped up with all the new information we covered. We had homework to do which I just managed to block in time before we hopped in the car to go to the ferry. The homework swatches turned into lessons in tightening a loose BO edge, the perfect button hole, how to pick read more

My Little Ponies

My Little Ponies

Pearls, that is.  I’ve been looking everywhere for a Canadian source for Pony Pearl dpns.  I found them at the Beehive Wool Shop in Victoria when I participated in the yarn crawl at the Victoria Fibre Festival.  So, I decided to get a set in every size from 2 mm to 4 mm.  At some point I’ll probably regret not getting the full range but at least now I know where I can find them. I fell in love with them when I started a new pair read more

Goodies

Goodies

I finally managed to make my way to a new LYS the other day called Three Bags Full.  What a warm friendly little store.  Look at what I bought! The last of sweetgeorgia in colourway Momiji.  They still have a few skeins in about six colourways – hurry on down if you’ve been toying with treating yourself.  I also bought some hard-to-come-by Koigu.  Francesca, one of the owners was telling me they have to actually send someone to Koigu read more

Partly Cloudy

Partly Cloudy

The weather is perfect for some photography today – cloudy and bright with a soft even light. I’m taking photos of Shelridge Farm’s beautiful Soft Touch DK weight wool for the BKK website. I’ve recently discovered the Shelridge Farm line of beautiful wools. They call it Soft Touch and they aren’t kidding. After it’s been washed it blooms and becomes incredibly soft. I’m very excited about it also because of the lovely range of colours. It is hand dyed and the read more

Computer sock

Computer sock

I like to have a simple stocking stitch sock on the needles and I keep it beside my computer.  When I’m reading blogs or email or waiting for pages to load I pick it up and knit a few more stitches.  It’s amazing how quickly it grows.  I’ve just finished my latest pair.  This is a toe-up sock à la Cat Bordhi. I took a workshop with her last fall which you can read about here and she gave some of us a sneak preview read more
