Knit City Recap and New Patterns

Knit City Recap and New Patterns

Happy Hallowe’en! We had a little fun during a photo shoot last week! Knit City Recap What an exciting, exhiliarating, exhausting weekend! I’m still high on the fumes of fibre and the contagious excitement that was all around me. One knitter visiting my booth was clutching her heart (in a good way) because she was just so excited by the atmosphere and what she was seeing. I taught classes to wonderful students, met with new and old friends and fondled yarn all weekend long. I helped knitters find their true potential with seaming, inserting zippers and finding their way to read more

Entrelac for the Whole Family

Entrelac for the Whole Family

I’ve rewritten my Entrelac Mittens pattern in five sizes—enough for the whole family. The design is featured in Knit Noro: Accessories. After I found out that the publishers decided to offer it in just one size I wanted to test out my sizing theory. First I sized the mitten up, then down, down and down again. Devan is modeling his mittens which are one size smaller than the ones in the book. Unfortunately I can’t publish the other sizes, but the publisher has given me permission to teach a class based on the mitten pattern and provide the read more

Pic-Knit 2010

Pic-Knit 2010

I love having the opportunity to meet knitters face to face and I especially enjoy receiving feedback on my patterns in person. Next month I’ll have that opportunity because I’m participating in the Surrey Museum’s Pic-Knit event. Pack a lunch, bring your knitting and join a summer picnic of knitters, crafters and suppliers. I’ll be there (with all my patterns, kits and yarn) along with other vendors from across the Lower Mainland. Interested in taking a knitting workshop? I’m teaching too! Out of Commission

Out of Commission

I’ve done something to my rotator cuff and as a consequence, I can barely move my arm. It’s called ‘frozen shoulder’ which as a description doesn’t sound so bad. What the name doesn’t describe is the pain experienced when you forget and accidentally move the arm. Yeowch! It’s amazing how many minor movements we do that use our shoulder muscles. Needless to say, there will be no knitting for a while. Boo hoo. Especially sad because I’ve been organizing a weekend workshop with my friend, read more

Honest

I have been knitting! When I realised that one of my vendors, Simply Socks Yarn Company was going to be at Sock Summit, I approached her about displaying some of my samples. Allison had not planned on bringing patterns to sell at Sock Summit, but she did have a proposal for me. Allison launched her own line of yarn which she planned to debut at Sock Summit. She wanted to have a knitted Ruby sample to display. read more

This coming weekend I’m teaching four knitting workshops at BC’s Creative Expo at Canada Place in Vancouver. It’s being billed as a consumer education trade show and in addition to classes, seminars and stage shows, there will be a vendor’s mall with 45 exhibitors.
