Gumdrops Mittens

Gumdrops Mittens

Day seven of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. Goody, goody gumdrops – the polka dots on these cozy mittens are such fun. Go crazy with colour here and knit every row of gumdrops a different color, or be subtle with tone on tone. There is a size for everyone: babies to grandpas. Instructions for both traditional mittens and fingerless gloves are included. I had such fun playing with different weights of yarn and this stitch pattern. My favourite combination is a read more

Aquitaine

Aquitaine

For the first eight days of November we’ve been releasing a new pattern every day. Today is the last day. Aquitaine was a big hit at Knit City. It seems to have captured people’s imagination as it has mine. For me it began as Lady Emmeline, a child’s sweater featured in Petite Purls online magazine. I was asked several times if I planned on releasing it in adult sizes. What a great idea because I wanted to wear it too! The adult pattern comes in eight sizes read more

Rain City Baby

Day six of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. When Krista of Rain City Knits contacted me about yarn support for a pattern, she said she would love to see her yarn in one of my kids’ designs. With such great colours, how could I resist? I knit up a teeny tiny sweater to show her what I was thinking. I think because it was so tiny she was smitten. We decided to offer a baby brother read more

Rain City Kid

Day five of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. I’m having a little love affair with local dyer Rain City Knits. Krista’s studio is in Gastown and occasionally she blesses us with a gorgeous shot of the city from her studio window or neighbourhood. After a glorious, sunny summer and fall in Vancouver, the rain has started pouring again, just in time for my Rain City designs.   Your child might want to eat and sleep in read more

Tip Toe Up Socks

Tip Toe Up Socks

Day four of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. I love teaching this toe-up sock as a workshop and thought it would be marvelous to package the workshop into a skill-building pattern. This is a great basic pattern that you can use as a canvas for your creative ideas. Try different stitch patterns or stripes. See where your imagination takes you. The pattern comes in five sizes including baby, child, preteen/Adult S, M, L and is written for your preferred choice of read more

Grenadine

Grenadine

Day three of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. Grenadine is a mix of the old world pomegranate with new world knitting techniques, originally inspired by the gorgeous SweetGeorgia Yarns Pomegranate colourway and my love of pomegranates. I ate my first pomegranate in the Caribbean while on holiday as a child; later while traveling in Granada, Spain as an adult, I was delighted to see the pomegranate motif all over the city. And who can resist the sweet read more

Avery Big Kid

Avery Big Kid

Day two of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. Avery is such a popular pattern from my earlier collection and often I’m asked for my patterns in larger sizes. Avery Big Kid fits the bill. A favourite sweater with bold blocks of colour on the front, I’ve sized Avery up for an older crowd. Inset sleeves and fully fashioned shaping create a more sophisticated look and fit for school-aged children. The key design elements of corrugated ribbing and patterned sleeves made this read more

Woven Knuckles

Woven Knuckles

Day one of new pattern releases. For the first eight days of November we’ll be releasing a new pattern each day. Check back often to see more. These colourful gloves feature a network of stitches around the knuckles while the wide side gusset offers a roomier fit and lots of mobility. The colour flows unbroken from the gusset to the tip of the thumb, which you complete before the entrelac panel starts. For an even sharper contrast, work the entrelac panel from the other end of the ball. This pattern is worked in Noro Silk Garden Sock and works equally read more
